A Ballast for My Soul

Life is like a stormy sea

That tosses to and fro,

But God's Word will ever be

A ballast for my soul.

By its truth I'll be held fast

Till I reach heaven's shore

Where I will be home at last

And sail life's sea no more!

—Perry Boardman

Ever Since By Faith I Saw The Stream....

"Ever since by faith I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply
Redeeming love has been my theme
And shall be till I die!"

"The grandest fact under heaven is this - that Christ by His precious blood does actually put away sin, and that God, for Christ's sake dealing with men on terms of divine mercy, forgives the guilty and justifies them, not according to anything that He sees in them, or foresees will be in them, but according to the riches of His mercy which lie in His own heart. The justification by which comes from God Himself must be beyond question. If the Judge acquits me, who can condemn me? If the highest court in the universe has pronounced me just, who shall lay anything to my charge? ...No tongue can tell the depth of that calm which comes over the soul which has received the peace of God which passes all understanding." (Charles Haddon Spurgeon)

Born in 1834 and died in 1892, Charles Haddon Spurgeon was England's best-known preacher for most of the second half of the 19th century. Here was a man who lived to the full - he was all out for God. It is unlikely that any of us can compare remotely with his God-given brilliance, but we can all ask God for something of his devotion to the Savior and his love for souls. The Joy That Visits My Soul

"O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary

St. Paul loved the person of Christ, because he felt sweet experience that Christ loved him. His love was but a reflection of Christ's love first. He loved to see christ, to embrace Him, and enjoy Him that had done so much and suffered so much for his soul. No joy ever visits my soul like that of knowing that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Heart's Desires

"God knows your heart's desires, and His plans and purposes for you are far greater than anything you can do on your own."

"God knows what it will take to accomplish His purpose. Sometimes, the greatest disappointment or tragedy can be the catalyst God uses for blessing and renewing hope - especially if the trial reveals a lack of faith on our part. While we cannot see the end of every hardship, the Lord can. And "He works all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose" (Romans 8: 28)

The Heart Is Unweldable....

The heart is unweldable, and nothing but grace can so heat it as to enable the hammer of conviction to wield it to Christ; and when thus wielded, it becomes one with him.

Take heed of a false faith; none is true but that which is acquired by a kneeling, searching, seeking for truth as for hidden treasure.

JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL

She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati
on a snow white Christmas eve.
Going home to see her momma and her daddy
with the baby in the back seat.
Fifty miles to go,
and she was running low on faith and gasoline.
It'd been a long, hard year.

She had a lot on her mind
and she didn't pay attention
She was going way too fast.
and before she knew it,
she was spinning on a thin, black sheet of glass.
She saw both their lives
flash before her eyes,
she didn't even have time to cry
She was so scared.
She threw her hands up in the air.

Jesus take the wheel,
take it from my hands,
cause I can't do this on my own.
I'm letting go,
so give me one more chance.
to Save me from this road I'm on.
Jesus take the wheel.

It was still getting colder
when she made it to the shoulder
And the car came to a stop.
She cried when she saw, that baby in the backseat
sleeping like a rock.
And for the first time in a long time,
she bowed her head to pray.
she said "I'm sorry for the way I've been living my life,
I know I've got to change
so from now on, tonight"

Jesus take the wheel.
take it from my hands,
cause I can't do this on my own.
I'm letting go,
so give me one more chance.
To save me from this road I'm on.

Oh, Jesus take the wheel
Oh, I'm letting go,
so give me one more chance,
to save me from this road I'm on.
From this road I'm on.
Jesus take the wheel.
Oh, take it, take it from me.
oh wah ooooooooo

ANYWAY

Music Videos by VideoCure

You can spend your whole life building
Something from nothin'
One storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway

This world's gone crazy
It's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all your heart
For all the right reasons
In a moment they can choose to walk away
Love 'em anyway

God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
Yea - I do it anyway

You can pour your soul out singing
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yea, sing it anyway
Yeah, yeah!

I sing
I dream
I love anyway

He Will Lift You By His Love....

Clytie, Fredric, Lord Leighton
"Souls in danger look above,
Jesus completely saves;
He will lift you by His love,
Out of the angry waves,
He's the Master of the sea
Billows His will obey;
He, your Savior wants to be,
Be saved today!"
"The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord...
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved."

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU

WEARY, TIRED AND HEARTBROKEN?

" The heart is by nature restless as old ocean's waves; it seeks an object for its affection; and when it finds one beneath the stars, it is doomed to sorrow. Either the beloved changes, and there is disappointment; or death comes in, and there is bereavement. The more tender the heart, the greater its unrest. Those in whom the heart is simply one of the largest valves are undisturbed, because they are callous; but the sensitive, the generous, and the unselfish, are often found seeking rest and finding none. To such, the Lord Jesus says, "Come unto Me and I will give you rest."

Think about God. Make much of Him till He broadens and fills the horizon of faith. Then prayer will come into its marvellous inheritance of wonders. The marvels of prayer are seen when we remember that God's purposes are changed by prayer. God's vengeance is stayed by prayer, and God's penalty is remitted by prayer. Here is a force which must be increasingly used, that of prayer, a force to which all the events of life ought to be subjected.

Prayer brings to us blessings which we need, and which only God can give and which prayer can alone convey to us. Asking is man's part. Giving is God's part. The praying belongs to us. The answer belongs to God. Man makes the plea and God makes the answer. The plea and the answer compose the prayer.

God is everywhere, watching, superintending, overseeing, governing everything in the highest interest of man. He is not an absentee God. He did not make the world with all that is in it, and turn it over to the so-called natural laws and then retire into the secret places of the universe having no regard for it or for the working of His laws. His hand is on the throttle. The work is not beyond his control. Earth's inhabitants and its affairs are not running independent of Almighty God. God's hand is in everything. None are beyond Him or beneath His notice.

The providence of God reaches as far as the realm of prayer. It has to do with everything for which we pray. Nothing is too small for the eye of God, nothing too significant for His notice and His care. God's providence has to do with even the stumbling of the feet of His saints. The care of Providence reaches to the most insignificant creatures and the most minute events - - the death of a sparrow and the fall of a hair."

E.M Bounds

THEREFORE FRET NOT, NEITHER BE WEARY. LIFT UP THE HANDS THAT HANG DOWN AND GO TO GOD IN PRAYER... "CASTING ALL YOUR CARES UPON HIM FOR HE CARES FOR YOU."

"The purpose of life is to look for its purpose." It still echoes in my mind, a saying that I first read in my Literature 101 book. Some of us were born in a privilege childhood and some were born in the dimness and obscurity of poverty but the one common denominator that binds us altogether is our souls' searching for the deep and profound things of life. "Who am I? Why am I here?" are the common questions that come to mind from time to time. When we experience nothing but the enjoyment of all life's pleasures, we regard life as beautiful, but when sufferings, pain and sorrows come, we regard life as one whole big dark room. We tend to disregard the beauty of the rose when we are hurt by its thorns. Often the hurt, the pain, sorrows and sufferings dim our view of the bright skies that lay ahead. But to the courageous, the brave and the patient, rewards of greatness and satisfaction in living are given. We are like soldiers fighting for our very own existence so hold your head high soldiers and march forward with courage because the profound reason and meaning of life is to be understood by only the wisest and the bravest!!!

Facts, Facts, Facts!!!Image

The distance of the earth from the sun, approximately 93,000,000 miles is just right to sustain life!

The 23 1/2 degree tilt of the earth on its axis ensures seasonal changes without which much of the earth would be desert!

The balance of oxygen (21%) and nitrogen (78%) in the air we breathe is perfect for supporting life!

An ozone layer in the atmosphere shelters our planet from deadly ultraviolet rays from the sun!

These and more are but proofs of an Intelligent Maker!

"The starry heavens on a moonlit night, a golden sunset at the end of the day, majestic mountain peaks, tall, stately trees, the music of a babbling brook, the warm rays of sunshine, or perhaps something as common, and as beautiful as a wildflower in the field." May we never become too busy to appreciate the ordinary things in life and to offer gratitude to God!Image

THOUGHTS, THOUGHTS, THOUGHTS!!!

"True love endures in spite of difficulties. It does not depend upon the continuance of pleasing qualities in the loved one. It flows from a deep desire for the wlefare of the other and grows sweeter with the passing of the years."Image

"Beauty, youth, good fortune, even love itself, cannot keep care and pain, loss and sorrow, from the most blessed for - 'Into each life some rain must fall, some days must be dark and dreary.'.." but....

"God's hands that holds the ocean depths can hold my small affairs; His hand which guides the universe can carry all my cares."Image

QUOTES FROM A CLASSIC

" My great miseries in this world have been Heathcliff's miseries, and I watched and felt each from the beginning; my great thought in living is himself. If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger. I should not seem a part of it...I am Heathcliff - he's always, always in my mind not as a pleasure to myself - but as my own being!" (Catherine from Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights)

POETRY

I never saw a moor;

I never saw the sea,

Yet know I how the heather looks

and what a billow be.

I never spoke with God,

nor visited in heaven.

Yet certain am I of the spot

As if the checks were given.

Yesterday I received an email from a thoroughly bewildered father in El Salvador and it reads:
"I came across your blogspot, Gaze of the Soul, as I googled through spiritual topics...I admire your passion for spiritual things and your firm views on God, Christianity and salvation through Jesus Christ...My brilliant, intelligent, good and kind 17 year-old son was recently mutilated and killed by drugged men....May I ask you one question, "MISS OPHELIA JANE JULIA, WHERE WAS GOD WHEN MY SON WAS KILLED?"
DEAR SIR: I deeply appreciate you for sending that email to me. I want you to know that I completely understand and feel the pain and suffering you are going through right now over the recent death of your brilliant, good son and my sincere thoughts and prayers for comfort and strength are with you and your family. Your question echoes that of those who had passed through the same kind of bereavement that you are experiencing right now....Sometimes, even to a Christian, injustices of this kind are hard to fathom which often lead us to question Divine justice and interference. But to answer your question as to where was God when your son was killed, all I can say is....MY FRIEND, GOD WAS JUST WHERE HE WAS WHEN HIS OWN SON, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, WAS KILLED.
IN MEMORIAM
Shafileah Ahmed, 17 year-old Pakistan girl victim of an honor-killing in January last year in Warrington, UK. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-507020/Teenager-honour-killing-girl-dramatic-plea-help-died.html
World events, its cruelty, wickedness and total defiance of God is such a perplexing thing to a Christian, I must admit. Somehow, secular history does not explain the WHY of all what is happening. But divine history or the WORD OF GOD explains it and gives glory and honor to the Almighty God alone. May we as believers in Christ Jesus, even in the most adverse circumstances, would praise and thank God for He knows what He is doing and that He has promised that what He had begun to do, He will perform it until the day of Christ.

BALLAD OF A MOTHER'S HEART

The night was dark, for the moon was young
And the stars were asleep and rare;
The clouds were thick, yet Youth went out
To see his maiden fair.
"Dear one," he pleaded as he knelt
Before her feet in tears
"My love is true, why have you kept me waiting
all these years?"
The maiden looked at him unmoved
It seemed and whispered low:
"Persistent Youth you have to prove
By deeds your love is true."
"There's not a thing I would not do
For you beloved," said he
"Then go," said she "to your mother dear
and bring her heart to me!"

Without another word, Youth left
And went to his mother dear
And opened her breast and took her heart
He did not shed a tear.

Then back to his maiden fair he ran,
Unmindful of the rain
But his feet slipped and down he fell
And loud he groaned with pain.
Still in his hand he held the prize
That would win his maiden's hand;
And suddenly he thought of his mother dear
So kind, so sweet, so fond
And then he heard a voice,
Not from his lips but all apart
"Get up," it said
"Were you hurt, child?"
It was his mother's heart.

"God tells us to honor our mother. And He does not set any limits to His command. Because she's our mom, we are to treat her with respect and love. Mothers don't always live up to our expectations. Sometimes, they experience hardships and challenges that affect their ability to offer what we need or want. Or, they might have a personal weakness that negatively impacts us or our families. But we are to follow the example of our heavenly Father, who loved us even though we didn't have any qualities that deserved His favor. God loved us when we were unlovable. We can express our gratitude to Him by giving unconditional love to our mother."

"Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;

How great Thou art, how great Thou art.

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;

How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

~~Stuart Kline~~

"So few people have any conception of what the grace of God really is. It is the wondrous, boundless love of God poured out upon us without stint or measure, not according to our deserving, but according to His infinite heart of love "which passeth knowledge", so unfathomable are its heights and depths. Put together all the tenderest love you know of, the deepest you have ever felt, and the strongest that has ever been poured out upon you, and heap upon it all the love of all the loving human hearts in the world, and then multiply it by infinity, and you will begin perhaps to have some faitn glimpses of who the love of God in Christ Jesus is."
~~Hannah Withal Smith~~
